  • St John's in the City Presbyterian Church 170 Willis Street Wellington, Wellington, 6011 New Zealand (map)

Faith Thinking course: “Power and violence are opposites"? (presented by Dr Andrew Shepherd)

Course Cost: $25.00 (including GST)

Time and Venue: Friday, November 8th (7.00pm -9.00pm) and Saturday, November 9th (9.00am -12.30pm) at St John's in the City Presbyterian Church, 170 Willis Street, Wellington

Contents: Despite the claims of human progress, arguably there is little that distinguishes our contemporary levels of violence and war from any other period of human history. At the heart of the Christian narrative is the violent and unjust execution of Jesus. What is the significance of this for how Christians have understood and responded to violence and injustice historically? What is the significance of this for our lives in a world of increasing polarisation and seemingly perpetual conflict?

Presented by Dr Andrew Shepherd – Senior Lecturer in Theology and Public Issues, Theology Programme, University of Otago.
