Earthquake strengthening fundraising update
St John’s set out to raise $4.2m towards strengthening costs three years ago. To date we’ve raised $3,376,475 (or 80%) of that amount, for which we can give grateful thanks to God and all who have contributed.
$1.2m was a planned contribution from Trust funds but the balance raised was all additional contributions or pledges. Direct pledges and donations by the Congregation total $791,694, exceeding the original total amount pledged of $647,474 with many giving more than they pledged. Nearly all individual pledges have been honoured now and some people are continuing to give faithfully towards their planned total. Details of what you have given are available from the office if you want to check.
We have also been grateful for some large donations from beyond the Congregation such as $20,840 from L T Mc Guinness as our main contractor in 2020, as well as those earlier from Internal Affairs, the Wellington City Council and Knox Waitara. The largest share of donations came from members of the Congregation, both past and present. Giving by the Congregation since 1 April 2021, when the project neared completion, totals over $210,000. This giving has strengthened both the Church and our Ministry and Christian witness in the city.
You can still contribute further even although the special fundraising events have now been completed.
