Weekly Bulletin: Staying connected as a church - 9 February 2025
Kia ora St John’s whānau,
This Sunday we have a baptism at the beach at around midday (details below), and so in our worship together in the city beforehand we’ll have some teaching about what baptism means for us as The Body of Christ.
We are also celebrating Communion (both sacraments in one day!), so our children and young people can go straight to their peer groups in the St John’s Centre at 10am. And we will all join together in the Church later for Communion.
At the conclusion of the service we will all share Morning Tea together in the St John’s Centre.
If you can’t gather in the city, and you want to join the worship service via Zoom, here are the details to access the live-stream:

OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT…
WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON WAITANGI DAY?
This weekly email is coming out a day earlier than normal, because we celebrate Waitangi Day as a public holiday.
Here in our city there is a Kotahitanga and solidarity hikoi starting 10am from Pukeahu, followed by festivities at Waitangi park. It is about a more peaceful, fair and just way for Aotearoa to exist.
You can also pray…
For a God's Spirit of love and reconciliation to be present at Waitangi and everywhere there are commemorations. For the folks at Te Tii Marae and all who hīkoi to Waitangi.
For iwi Māori and all organising Waitangi commemorations, hīkoi and events.
For our political leaders, that they would listen well to the kōrero and wero laid down by Māori leadership.
For the hearts of those in our communities and churches to be softened to the message and calls from tangata whenua to honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
…Lord hear our prayer.
These prayer points are provided by Common Grace Aotearoa along with other resources to learn more about Waitangi.
