Weekly Bulletin: Staying connected as a Church 31 October 2021

Kia ora St John’s whānau,

How much forgiveness do you practice in your life?

Forgiveness may be one of the hardest things we have to do.

Last week we heard that Jesus teaches us to forgive others – this Sunday we will look at HOW we can do it.

We know that the maximum numbers for gatherings under Alert Level 2 is 100.  So, as well as worshipping at St John’s in the City this Sunday, we also offer a live stream option. Here are the details for joining in worship via Zoom…

Zoom Meeting ID: 370 260 759

Passcode: worship

The link to join the Zoom worship service is below.

ST J’S KIDS AND YOUTH GROUP START IN THE CENTRE

We are trying a new format for the young people’s peer group times on Sundays…

Young people will start with their peer group time in the St John's Centre from 10:00am. Around 10.45am, their leaders will bring them across to join with the rest of the congregation in worship (like the way we do it on Communion Sundays)

ST JOHN’S AGM

THIS Sunday is the St John’s Annual General Meeting, and will be in the church after the worship service.

It will be under 60 minutes and children will be supervised in the St John’s Centre. We hope you can be part of this important meeting where we celebrate our significant achievements, hear updates on what priorities are happening/underway (including our mission, ministry, outreach, faith formation, finance, and property) and find out how we can pull in the same direction!

We will stream it via Zoom (the same link as the worship service), but this is for observation only. For you to participate in voting, we need you to be present.

The Annual Report is available on the St John’s website

Here is the link to the Agenda, previous Minutes of the 2020 AGM, and the Budget for 2021-2022

WHEELS DAY

Also THIS Sunday, we have some more high-speed fun with Wheels Day at the Kilbirnie Rec Centre. We’ve booked out the whole centre, so invite some friends and family to come with you. If you have grandchildren, you could bring them along. Koha entry.

CHURCH CAMP TRAMP

We have had to postpone the St Johns in the City’s Church Camp until September 2022.

To salvage a community event we have morphed ‘camp’ into a ‘tramp’…  On Saturday 6th November at 2pm we’ll be meeting to go for a 2hr loop walk through Trelissick Park.

Our tramp will be followed by a dinner and some fun activities.

We’d love if you could join in. You’re welcome to come to both the walk and dinner, or just one part.

To tell us you’re coming, please click on this link and fill in the form to RSVP https://forms.gle/QEXNqJ8RZnsB95RJ8

Details of where to meet, what to bring, etc will come soon and will be added to this RSVP link.

MENTORING PROGRAMME
We give thanks to God for the first-ever 12 month Mentoring Programme which recently concluded. Next year, we are running our second St John's Mentoring Programme.

As part of our St John's inter-generational faith formation, this Mentoring Programme expresses our Mission Statement very well.

Will you be involved as a Mentor?  Will you be involved as a Mentee?

As the start of this Mentoring Programme will be at the beginning of 2022, we encourage you to register your interest early.
