Weekly Bulletin: Staying connected as a church - 7 May 2023

Kia ora St John’s whānau,
 
This Sunday we have special guests at our 10am worship service – students, families and staff from Glasgow House at Scots College.

Scots College is a Presbyterian Church School in Strathmore founded by St John’s in the City in 1916. We continue to grow the connections in various ways, and this term three of the Scots Houses will visit us to worship God together. It’s a bit of an experiment, but one I hope will be very enriching as we share our worship of God together. For some families it might be quite a new experience coming to Church!  We have this opportunity to offer hospitality as a welcoming Church whānau.
 
On Sunday we will reflect on what is greatness
How do we recognise greatness?
What does God show us is greatness?
 
Peer groups will be happening on Sunday with young people going out with their leaders part-way through the service.

OTHER THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT...

YOUTH LED WORSHIP

This term our youth group is having teaching about worship. As our young people explore these expressions of our connections with God, they will lead us in an element of worship each week. We look forward to these contributions as we journey as a Church whānau. This Sunday the youth will lead our Prayer of Adoration.

 

BAPTISM AND CONFIRMATION DISCUSSIONS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

We are again offering the Baptism and Confirmation Conversations for young people – these are happening after the Sunday services with a light lunch provided. If you would like to join in these, please let our Youth and Families Pastor, Hannah North know h.north@stjohnsinthecity.org.nz

WHANAU NIGHT

St John’s Whānau Night is happening Sunday 14 May, 5:00pm - 6:30pm
You are invited to have a special evening connecting with your St John's whānau in an evening of worship, discussion and food.  Please invite others to come along too!

 

FELLOWSHIP GROUP

Ron Fountain will be the next speaker at the May Fellowship Group on Tuesday 23rd May, 11am in the St John’s Centre.
Ron’s topic is ‘Growing up in a missionary family’.

 

SOUPER SUNDAYS

These lunches are back by popular demand! You are warmly invited to share in a bowl of hot soup after church on any of the following dates.
